The term “Lower Silesian Eldorado” is no exaggeration. The Underground Gold Mine Tourist Route was established in 1996. Within the 320-kilometer labyrinth, three exceptionally interesting adits are open to the public: the “Gertruda” Adit, the “Ochrowa” Adit, and the “Upper Black Adit” with its only underground waterfall in Poland (8 meters high), from which you can ride the Orange Tram. The fairytale world created underground (a gnome, a mad alchemist, and a miner) and the unique guided tours leave tourists enchanted and delighted.

In addition, in the Gertrude Adit we can see exhibitions showing maps and plans of the mine from the 18th to the 20th century (including the mysterious map of the Black Adit), display cases with old mining and metallurgical tools, minerals, an exhibition of miners’ lamps, a muffle furnace, i.e. a laboratory furnace in which gold was smelted, and an 18th-century cart for transporting ore.

Upon exiting, the guide will thank you for your attention and encourage you to take advantage of the many additional attractions available at the mine, while also inviting you individually for a delicious coffee or tea with a tiny dose of arsenic—a dose that isn’t harmful to your health, but rather causes addiction… to the place, interesting people, and adventure. We also invite you to visit the Medieval Technology Park and the Mining and History Memorial Room of Złoty Stok.
